【Introduction】

Harry X. Wu, Professor of Economics, Institute of Economic Research (IER), Hitotsubashi University, and Senior Fellow of The Conference Board (TCB) (New York) and Research Director of the TCB China Center (Beijing). His major areas of research include macroeconomic measurement, productivity, growth and volatility, international comparisons using production-side PPPs, and the economics of central planning and transition, specialized in the Chinese economy. He associated with Angus Maddison on China’s historical data and is currently a council member of the global endeavor Maddison Project. He has contributed extensively to the debate on China’s real growth and productivity performance. He is council member of Asia KLEMS (capital, labor, energy, materials and services) and leading the China Industry Productivity (CIP)/China KLEMS project to construct industry-level database for growth and industry-level productivity analysis.
